Glyn Powell, a current 3rd year Science student participated in last year’s Australian Food Industry Undergraduate program.  Glyn was assigned to the Meat and Livestock Australia project and enthusiastically describes the benefits the program and encourages 2nd year Science students to apply for 2008/2009 positions.

“It’s a fantastic program.  Meat and Livestock Australia flies you to a part of Australia and gives you a project to work on for the summer.  They give you a specific professional in that field and they help you work through your project. … There isn't much more a science student can want than to put on their resume that they have completed independent research with results.

Your background doesn't really matter. I did statistical work, engineering work, every day science analysis and also plenty of accounting.  It was a great experience and the other good thing is that I was paid.”
