Policy
-
When certain levels of achievement are required in components of assessment in order to pass a unit, this must be clearly stated in the handbook entry for that unit.
-
Departments are to review the issue of component hurdles in any unit, with a view to increasing their assessment weight if they are compulsory.
-
In assessment descriptions, terms such as satisfactory or acceptable must be clearly defined.
-
If, on the basis of a formula, a candidate achieves at least 50% for a unit but performs unsatisfactorily in a hurdle component, then the candidate must be awarded a final unit mark of at least 45%.
