1. Doctoral students

Academic appeals procedures for doctoral students are given in Chapter 8 (‘Grievance and appeal, discipline and termination’) of the Handbook for Doctoral and Master of Philosophy Degrees.

2. Masters students

Academic appeals procedures for masters students generally follow those for doctoral students as given in Chapter 8 (‘Grievance and appeal, discipline and termination’) of the Handbook for Doctoral and Master of Philosophy Degrees. In this case the ‘committee’ will be the Research Degrees Committee (RDC), and any complaints should be directed to the Manager, Research and Research Training.

3. How do I deal with any other issues or problems that may arise during my candidature?

In the first instance you should discuss any problems with your supervisor. You may then wish to contact the following persons:

• Head of your school
• Postgraduate coordinator of your school
• Associate Dean (Graduate Studies)
• Postgraduate Committee representatives
