Part 12: Lapse of candidature

Failure to complete coursework requirements by due date

If a candidate has not completed the coursework requirements by the due date, candidature will lapse. However, in special circumstances, the candidate may be permitted to complete these requirements within a specified period as agreed upon by the head of school and the Research Degrees Committee.

Failure to submit thesis by due date

If a candidate has not submitted the thesis to the school by the due date, candidature will lapse. However, in special circumstances, the candidate may be permitted to submit the thesis for examination within a specified period as agreed upon by the head of school and the Research Degrees Committee.

Failure to re-enrol

If the candidature lapses due to failure to re-enrol the candidate may not normally be re-admitted to the masters program within four years of the lapse, unless the Research Degrees Committee considers the circumstances sufficiently exceptional.
