Part 9: Completion of major thesis only or major thesis and coursework unitsThe work for the course shall normally be carried out under such conditions as the Research Degrees Committee may prescribe on behalf of Faculty Board. Candidates may undertake a major thesis only, or a major thesis and coursework units. Please note the definition of 'major thesis' given in 'Part 2: Definitions'. Major thesis onlyFor a candidate undertaking a major thesis only, the major thesis will comprise 100 per cent of the assessable content of the course. Major thesis and coursework unitsFor a candidate undertaking a major thesis and coursework units, the major thesis must comprise at least 66 per cent of the assessable content of the course. The remainder of the course (34 per cent or less) will comprise coursework units at fourth-year level or above as may be prescribed by the head of school. A candidate whose research program comprises a major thesis and coursework units shall complete such units with an average grade of H2A or better. |
