Part 11: Leave entitlementsAnnual leaveCandidates are entitled to 20 days recreation leave a year. The maximum amount of annual leave that may be accumulated before it is taken in part or full is 30 days. Accumulated leave in excess of 30 days will be relinquished. Please be advised that annual leave is calculated on a pro-rata basis. The supervisor's agreement must be obtained before leave is taken and the school notified in writing of intended leave arrangements. Sick leaveCandidates are entitled to 10 days sick leave each year which is calculated on a pro-rata basis. Applications for sick leave endorsed by the supervisor and head of school are to be made to the Research Degrees Committee via the Faculty of Science office. Reporting of absences Short absences of less than two weeks (for example, illness or attendance at a local or interstate conference related to the research program) that are not considered to interfere with progress need not be reported. However, all absences overseas, for whatever period, must be reported (except for approved annual leave) in writing to the supervisor and the school. International candidates must also report to Monash University International Student Admissions office as required. Maternity leaveMaternity leave may be taken for a maximum of 12 weeks. |
