'Populate and Publish' Maternity Leave Grant

The Faculty of Science is committed to supporting and encouraging its female academics and recognises that taking maternity leave may lead to a reduced research profile with possible adverse affects on the ability to attract research grants and to maintain career progression.

1. Purpose and value of the grant

The grant aims to provide assistance to female academics engaged in teaching / research positions who have taken maternity leave by providing an untied grant of $15,000 to be used for any research-related purpose. Examples of the ways in which the grant may be used include teaching relief, research assistance, and the purchase or maintenance of research consumables. The grant must be spent within two (2) years of the date of its award.

2. Eligibility requirements

Applicants must be Faculty of Science academics who are returning from maternity leave.

3. Application procedure

Applicants should forward a letter outlining the intended use of the grant, accompanied by a supporting letter from their head of school, to the Associate Dean (Research).
