Travel grants for academic staff and postdoctoral fellowsOverseas Travel Grants provide support for Faculty of Science academic staff to present papers at international research conferences located overseas. 1. Travel policies and procedures for Science academic staff and postdoctoral fellows undertaking domestic or international travel.This page outlines the Monash University policies and procedures applying to Faculty of Science academic staff and postdoctoral fellows undertaking domestic or overseas travel to attend a conference, symposium or workshop. 2. International travelThe Monash University Staff International Travel Policy (doc 120kb) (endorsed in July 2005) applies to all Monash University staff and postgraduate research students travelling overseas for their research or university work. 3. Domestic travelA domestic travel policy has yet to be released but is likely to follow the international travel policy. 4. Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) travel advisories for international travel ('Smart Traveller')Academic staff and postdoctoral fellows should review the relevant travel advisories given on the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Smart Traveller website prior to booking any international travel. Special consideration should be made of the Monash University Staff International Travel Policy (doc 120kb) where DFAT has issued a warning at level 5 or above. 5. Bookings to be made through HRG AustraliaAcademic staff and postdoctoral fellows are required to make their travel bookings through HRG Australia (formerly BTI Australia), the Monash University preferred travel management company. Bookings for international travel must be made by telephone or email, while domestic travel bookings can be made online via the HRG ResX booking system. 6. Flightlock systemsInternational travel bookings made through BTI will be automatically entered into Flightlock, a traveller locator system implemented by Monash University in February 2005 to track its travelling staff and postgraduate research students and to collect data for travel insurance purposes. 7. Preparation of a Travel Plan for international travelAcademic staff and postdoctoral fellows undertaking international travel are required to lodge an authorised Monash University Travel Plan with the person nominated with responsibility for collection of staff travel information in their faculty. For Science academic staff and postdoctoral fellows, a Faculty of Science Staff International Travel Plan (doc 72kb) must be completed and lodged with: Ms Ruth Zupo A. Faculty of Science Overseas Travel Grants for Academic StaffFaculty of Science Overseas Travel Grants for Academic Staff provide support for Faculty of Science academic staff to present papers at international research conferences located overseas. Up to $1500 will be awarded to each successful applicant. In addition, grants of up to $1200 are available for travel from Australia to Malaysia to promote collaborative research between staff in the School of Arts and Sciences at Monash University Malaysia and Faculty of Science schools based in Australia.
B. Faculty of Science Postdoctoral Overseas Travel GrantsThis is a scheme that provides support for Faculty of Science postdoctoral research fellows to attend international conferences or to conduct short research visits to other overseas research institutions where such activities can be shown to be of benefit to Monash University. Applicants may be awarded up to $1000 in this round.
