Intermission1. Applying for intermissionDownload the Intermission application form from the Student Services Form Page. Submission date:
Applications for intermission outside of these dates will be subject to the conditions at the time. i.e. after the CSP census date, fees will apply and units may be recorded as "fail". 2. Length of intermissionIntermission is normally granted for a period of no more than one calendar year or two consecutive semesters. If you wish to extend your intermission, you must re-apply and the faculty will determine whether an extension is possible. For information on the time limit for completion of your course and the maximum intermission period permitted, please refer to the Student Resource Guide. If you are approved for intermission, you will be notified in writing within approximately 3 weeks. 3. International students and intermissionInternational on-campus students may only be granted intermission on compassionate grounds. This includes bereavement and extreme personal hardship. Documentation must be provided in order for the intermission to be granted. Your application must be approved by Monash International, who will provide you with information about possible consequences to your visa. 4. Applying for intermission after the Census dateYou can apply for intermission after the Census date, but you will be charged for units in which you are enrolled and they will show as discontinued or fail on your record depending on the date of your intermission. If you are applying after the Census date due to a medical reason, you must provide documentary evidence that your medical problem was evident before the census date, then consideration will be given to backdating your application. If you are a HECS deferred student you can apply to the Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) at their website for remission for part or all of your HECS debt. 5. Refunding fees for the current semesterIf you apply to discontinue or take intermission before the CSP census date you can apply for a refund. Fees will not be refunded if you discontinue after the CSP census date, unless you can provide documentary evidence that would support medical reasons or personal trauma which occurred prior to the CSP census date. 7. Returning to studyAll students must re-enrol during the October/November re-enrolment period if returning to study in either Semester 1 or 2 of the following year. You will need to access WES to re-enrol. On-campus students need to access Allocate+ to select timetabling preferences. If you are taking intermission in both Semester 1 and Semester 2 you will need to re-enrol for the following year in the normal re-enrolment period (October/November). Re-enrolment advice will be mailed to you while you are on intermission. 8. Receiving information whilst on intermissionYou should always check your Monash email account for important information while you are on intermission. Re-enrolment information will also be mailed to you in at the end of Semester 2. If your postal address changes while you are on intermission you must update your address details through my.monash. |
